Happy National Pet Month!

April is National Pet Month, and many UK families will be thinking of adding a four-legged member to the household. While a new pet can be a source of joy and companionship for people of all ages, it is important to remember that adopting any animal will bring with it responsibilities that should not be taken lightly.

– A new pet is a significant financial commitment, and different animals require different levels of financial outlay. Make sure you are aware of the costs involved to properly care for your pet.
– An amount of preparation is needed before bringing any pet home. Don’t leave it until the last minute to get your house pet-ready.
– Consider microchipping your pet. Microchipping is compulsory for dogs as of earlier this month, but it’s a great idea for animals of all sizes.

To help you with these, and many other, considerations, Sainsbury’s Bank has produced some handy guides to get you started, including Preparing For a New Cat and Preparing For a New Dog.
